Smile If You’re A Misfit

I was watching T.D. Jakes’ series Live On Purpose and he said every great leader is a misfit. They have to be, because they can’t lead if they’re blending in That’s kinda my paraphrase. But it’s what I got out of what he was saying. And I thought about it. It makes sense. That’s not to say that leaders should see themselves as better than anyone else because we’re not (see how I just put myself in the “leader” group) It’s just saying that all of us should embrace ourselves if we’re different. And everyone is different. Everyone has the potential to be a leader in one area or another. When it comes to our family business, I follow my husband. He knows the ends and outs of fireplaces and barbecue grills far better than I do. But when it comes to being a novelist, I’m a leader. It’s important to know and respect your lane for the different areas of life. And if you stick out like a sore thumb from time to time, be cool with it.

If God has given you a desire for something that no one around you understands, it’s okay. They’re not supposed to understand it because he didn’t give it to them. He gave it to you.

Love who you are. Flaws and all. Embrace what makes you unique. What makes you special. You can only live your life for yourself. I have a complimentary eBook, “Just Do You”. I based it on the song of the same title by India.Arie.

Here are the lyrics to the song!

I heard a voice that told me I’m essential How all my fears are limiting my potential Said it’s time to step into the light and Use every bit of the power I have inside

So what’chu waiting on Who You waiting for If You don’t take a chance You’ll never know what’s in store

Just Do You (Somebody’s got to be a star) Just Do You (Somebody’s got to raise the bar) Just Do You (Somebody’s got to change the game) Just Do You (Today)

Every mountain needs someone to climb it Every ocean needs someone to dive in Every dream needs someone to wish it Every adventure needs someone to live it

If You create the game then You create the rules And if You just be You There’s no way You can lose

There’s a story waiting for you to write it There’s a treasure waiting for you to find it There’s a picture waiting for you to paint it There’s a dollar waiting for you to make it

If You create the game then You create the rules And if You just be You There’s no way You can lose
