Get Back Under The Cover

Recently, I had a very unpleasant exchange with a neighbor. Mind you, I believe 100% that I am in the right. However, the way I went about expressing myself was 100% wrong. As I thought about my adolescent argument via text, I cringed. How did I let my emotions go haywire? And more importantly, how do I bring everything back in order?

My answer: I got back under the cover. When I’m having a difficult moment, I pray and ask God to help me. But I realized that my actions and subsequent negative conversation had left me unprotected in this situation. I was wanting God to bless my mess. He doesn’t do that.

So I prayed. Repented. Asked God to direct me. And He did. He led me to call my neighbor. So I prayed again, just to make sure I heard Him right! I must admit, I was happy when I got voicemail. LOL!

But I left a very adult and responsible and mature message. And the moment I hung up, I felt relieved. I felt like I was back in control. Not in control of my neighbor, but in control of myself.

So far, she hasn’t responded and that’s fine. If she never responds, I’d be okay. Because by obeying God, I am back under the cover. My husband said she’s probably still talking about me. To that, I said, so what? I have a blog about it. It’s called, “What You Think About Me Is None Of My Business.” So let her think what she wants. Say what she wants. Act how she wants. When we purpose to live our lives in peace, we have to be able to walk away from the drama. And get back under the cover!

Psalm 17: 1 – 9

1Hear me, Lord, my plea is just;

listen to my cry.

Hear my prayer—

it does not rise from deceitful lips.

2Let my vindication come from you;

may your eyes see what is right.

3Though you probe my heart,

though you examine me at night and test me,

you will find that I have planned no evil;

my mouth has not transgressed.

4Though people tried to bribe me,

I have kept myself from the ways of the violent

through what your lips have commanded.

5My steps have held to your paths;

my feet have not stumbled.

6I call on you, my God, for you will answer me;

turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.

7Show me the wonders of your great love,

you who save by your right hand

those who take refuge in you from their foes.

8Keep me as the apple of your eye;

hide me in the shadow of your wings

9from the wicked who are out to destroy me,

from my mortal enemies who surround me.

Be Blessed and Have A Fantastic Day!
