Does it seem like every time you turn around, you have to spend money on something? The dryer went out, the stove died, the car just got a flat tire, someone stole something, you received an unexpected bil. If you find this happening every time you turn around and you can’t seem to get ahead, then I have one more question for you.
Are you a tither?
If you are and this is happening, then I urge you to examine your heart and the spirit in which you’re giving. God wants us to be cheerful in our giving. And if you’re currently not a tither, then I can tell you what’s happening to you. The locusts are having a field day eating your crop. And you wil continue to struggle until you cover your crop with your tithe.
Tithing isn’t for God. The $50 you give, will not make or break God. He’s not in a corner wringing His Hands and wondering how He’s going to make it to His next paycheck. No, that would be us when we don’t tithe. He has blessed us with an opportunity to honor Him and say “thank You Lord, for the money You’ve already provided.” All He tells us to give is 10%. That 10% covers your 90%. He’s very clear with us when it comes to titthing, and whether we believe it doesn’t change it.
Malachi 3:8-12 says:
“Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, ‘How have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. “You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing Me, the whole nation of you! “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says the LORD of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows. “Then I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of the ground; nor will your vine in the field cast its grapes,” says the LORD of hosts. “All the nations will call you blessed, for you shall be a delightful land,” says the LORD of hosts.
Hmm, when the windows of Heaven open up what happens? Well, let’s think about what’s in Heaven. God tells John in Rev 21:5 “…And He said, ‘write, for these words are faithful and true.'” And then He tells John what’s “faithful and true.”
I encourage you to read Revelation 21. It is so beautiful in its description of Heaven. Here’s a portion of the passage of God’s Living Word:
15. The one who spoke with me had a gold measuring rod to measure the city, and its gates and its wall. 16. The city is laid out as a square, and its length is as great as the width; and he measured the city with the rod, fifteen hundred miles; its length and width and height are equal. 17. And he measured its wall, seventy-two yards, according to human measurements, which are also angelic measurements. 18. The material of the wall was jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass. 19. The foundation stones of the city wall were adorned with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation stone was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald; 20. the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprase; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst. 21. And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; each one of the gates was a single pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.
Process this for just a moment. The angel who was speaking to John had a HUGE GOLD MEASURING ROD. You know it wasn’t gold-plated. The material of the wall was jasper and the city was PURE GOLD, like clear glass!!!! The foundation stones of the city were PRECIOUS STONES! And the 12 gates were 12 pearls. EACH GATE WAS A SINGLE PEARL! Oh my God!!! And the street of the city was PURE GOLD!!
I’m almost at a loss for words as I process this. There is no way that anyone can tell me that God wants His children to be in poverty. Not when He has such opulent beauty for us when we go to Heaven.
And for only 10% of what God has already given us here on earth, He PROMISES to open up the windows of Heaven, with it’s streets of gold, foundation of precious stones, and pearly gates, and pour out blessings upon us that WE WILL NOT HAVE ROOM TO RECEIVE IT ALL! Oh my God!
Instead of dreading tithes, we should be running to the church to give!
But wait, there’s more. He says He’ll rebuke the devourer for our sake. Not His sake. Our sake. What does that mean? It means satan no longer has a way in to mess with you. He’s a flesh devil. He can’t comprehend the spiritual. And your protection is spiritual. The 90% God leaves us is covered spiritually. No more locusts eating your crops!
And all this can be yours for the low low price of only 10% of what God already gave you. You can’t beat that deal anywhere else!
Please do not let the devil, your enemy, deceive you. If your paycheck is small, adjust your spending. Give God His 10% off the top. Cheerfully! And if you don’t trust the preacher of the church, then 1) let God deal with him, and 2) find another church. Never put God’s money into something that’s dead.
If you have a tithing testimony, please share! It’ll be encouragement to others!
Be Blessed and Have a Fantastic Day!
